Stratas is a team of unpaid volunteers who believe in creating healthier homes, communities, and campuses through a deeper understanding of mental health. 

Daniel Rivera

Daniel is a MD/PhD student at Queen’s University with a MSc degree from the University of Toronto. In 2020, Daniel was inspired to join Stratas because of his deep interest in mental health research and belief that through it, the health and well-being of Canadians may be profoundly improved. In his spare time, he likes to play with his two cute Australian Shepherds.

Liam Hunt

Liam is a financial writer living in Toronto. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in political science from Dalhousie University in 2016 and 2017. His fiction has appeared in numerous online outlets and his essays and commentary have been published by Forbes, Fox Business, the Vancouver Sun, and the New York Post.

April Christians

April is a seasoned medical writer and long-time mental health advocate. During her graduate studies at Queen’s University, she joined Stratas as a volunteer content writer. After completing her MSc in Clinical Neuroscience, she transitioned into medical cannabis research and became Stratas’ volunteer coordinator.

Benjamin Cowderoy

Ben is the inspiration for Stratas. After biking solo from Guelph to Halifax in 2015 to raise money for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) he cofounded Stratas. He studied at the University of Guelph and Conestoga College before taking on a civil construction career. Ben is currently transitioning into a new role in public health in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Abbey Flinn

Abbey is a Registered Nurse working at IWK on the Child and Adolescent’s Mental Health and Addictions Acute Inpatient unit in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She graduated from Dalhousie University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing, and is also a CrossFit Trainer. Abbey loves anything to do with fitness and being outdoors.
